It is important not to depend totally on what students are learning in school as it does not mean that is what they will build their life on. Try to have something to do outside the secular course.

I was more on the arts side too, and a lot of web skills really do feel like something you pick up outside the classroom. I think real projects teach you more than most courses anyway.
