What do you do to advertise your site?

Blog commenting, forum posting, Facebook, Twitter, guest blogging (every now and then), posting articles on rev-share sites...

    Youtube Likes Service

Dang. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you. I am sure there are people out there who would pay for this service.

    Besides the website stuff

I love to cook and bake, so that's something that I spend a lot of my spare time doing. I am also an avid couponer, so I'm always out searching for deals or doing online research about coupons and deals. I also like spending time with my BF just talking or watching movies, riding around and...

    Free or Paid host?

I wish you luck with 000webhost. You might do pretty well with it. I would still consider putting a bit of money to the side to spring for a good paid plan though.

Do You Prefer Big-Name Web Hosts or Smaller Ones?

Thanks for your answers, ya'll. I think I prefer in-between hosts that have been around for a while but that aren't huge yet. I am sort of wondering about Fat Cow. It looks like a pretty good host, and I have seen a lot of good reviews, but I have seen some pretty bad ones as well.

    Annoying Famous People

Kim Kardashian and her crowd really bug me because they are famous for absolutely no reason! I just don't get it. Also that dumb girl from Teen Mom...what's her name, Farrah Abraham? Ugh. Skeezy. I think it's pretty disgusting when people get famous for their disgusting, trashy and slutty ways...

Does anyone have an established website for sale?

I would love to find a good one, but only if it were for a reasonable price. I have tried looking for them online, but all of the sites that I find that supposedly sell them seem like scams or at least somewhat fishy to me. I don't really care that much about the niche, so just let me know what...

What Was Your First Website Like?

What was your very first website like? Are any of the websites that you make now anything like your first site? Do you miss any of the elements of the sites that you used to make? I remember when frames were the "big thing" for a while. I was so proud of myself when I learned how to use them...

    Minimalism

I like simple designs with a few splashes of "oomph!" Let's not forget the ugliness of marquees, flashing graphics, animations and bright neon backgrounds and such from websites of the past. I'm pretty sure I don't ever want to go back there again. Simple, muted colors and professional-looking...

    If you could change HTML...

I don't think I would change a thing. If I were to do that, I might as well come up with my own language. HTML is pretty easy to use once you learn it, and I wouldn't want to get completely confused by changing anything.

    Adfly/CoinURL thoughts?

I would never try either of those. Seems like it will make you lose money in the long run instead of the other way around. It will run off all of your loyal readers who will think that you've sold out and turned to scams.

What would you not do for revenue?

I would never put huge, annoying banner ads. Another thing that I wouldn't do is try ANY sort of sneaky tactics. Trying to make ads look like they are a part of your website, linking to sites that are obvious scams, etc. are big no-nos to me.

Do You Prefer Big-Name Web Hosts or Smaller Ones?

We all know about the big-name web hosts, like GoDaddy. Do you prefer Web hosts like that, or do you look for smaller companies?

    Free or Paid host?

I would never use free hosting nowadays. There's really no reason to when there are so many good hosts out there that do not charge a lot of money at all. Free hosting used to be pretty good in the first days of the Internet, but scammers, etc. have made it crap nowadays.

Where do you get your tutorials

I like watching YouTube tutorials for just about everything. They are so much easier to follow than long pages of text. I also don't like the Photoshop tutorials that post millions of pictures of each step...takes forever to load on this crappy connection and is just annoying in general. With...

How long did it take you to learn CSS?

I started messing with CSS when it first hit the 'Net, back when people were super stoked about being able to scroll over links and change the colors and stuff. Then, I basically gave it up for a while, and I still have yet to master it. One of these days, one of these days...

Do you allow HTML editing in forum posts?

I would never allow HTML coding on a forum. Although it would be a nice feature for some, it boils down to the old "some bad apples spoil it for the rest of the bunch." Besides, you can do pretty much anything you want with BBCode anyway, so what's the point? The risk isn't worth the reward to me.

Theoretically designing a site from the ground up

I used to always make all of my websites from scratch with only Microsoft Notepad at my side! Ahh, I remember the days. I would never, ever attempt to do that now. The site would look like crap compared to today's standards, or it would make me completely crazy. There are too many easier ways to...

    Where did you find HTML?

I actually first learned about HTML in the late 90s...I was really young at the time, maybe 9? I played two games: Dogz and Catz, that ended up being Dogz and Catz 2, 3, 4 and 5. There was actually a really active community of young folks who were into that game back then, and I made my own...
