How may comments be inserted into HTML code without being seen by the browser?

Not sure what you mean by 'being seen by the browser'. The browser doesn't display any comments on the web page, but the browser can still see the comments if you view the page source. If you are asking how to prevent the view page source feature from displaying the comments, about the only way is to not include any comments. But you could disable the view page source option by disabling the right click feature. There are also products out there that will encrypt the html source code which will prevent users from viewing the page source.
