HTML is I believe, pretty easy to learn whether you are taught by someone or self-taught. I self-taught using tutorials, and such online and now I know what I need to know which is basic HTML which gets me through.
I wasn't much into it but my online course needed us to have the basic knowledge of it. I started with the basics; understanding the structure and syntax of html. Check some online courses on it, practice some simple web pages.
