People always say that you should try to avoid spamming if you want people to trust your website and you, but I have found that spamming can help. I have spammed quite a few places, forums, social networking sites. Sure it feels crappy, but it's worth it for those visitors that you may get from spamming. So my question is, have you ever spammed in order to drive traffic to your website, and have you ever gotten good results from it?

While you think that is a good idea, its not. Had you of spammed me, I'd of reported you to Stop Forum Spam which means your IP address, email and username would be listed in a spam database. Do you really want that? If you spam, you risk being tagged as a spammer on your reputation. Instead of spamming, utilize signature links, blog links and so on by contributing something worthy and engaging with other readers. Be friendly, bring something to the table and develop friendships, people will want to be associated with you more.

When I was just getting started with my site, I did used to spam a couple other (very popular) forums to get them signing up on mine. I always ended up getting banned and, most of the times, not that many people joined and very few actually stayed and posted. It was definitely a waste of time and it made my forum look very bad, to the point of some people calling it a scam. Not worth it.

No, I have never intentionally spammed. Maybe sometimes I get somewhat over-active on some forums but it had never been my intention to spam. I believe that I can write well and somehow the idea of spamming doesn't quite resonate with my image of myself. Why spam when I can, say, write 20 interesting posts in 60 minutes? Every single post unique, on topic and definitely not copy and paste.

Really? I wasn't aware that things would get that serious. There are more important databases to be putting people's names, Ip addresses, and emails.

Either way, I never spammed to the point of being an idiot. But I did spam. I actually had useful information for the forums that I joined, but to get to that useful information, they would have to do something - an action (CPA)

As soon as people saw that they needed to do something to get something for free, they would label my post spam, when it actually wasn't. If you get labeled as a spammer, how would people find out, and how could it hurt you?

In the case of websites that allow signatures, but the regular members don't like it, is that spam? Technically it's not, but it's an unwelcoming environment. Anyway, some niches would be worse for that than others.

I just launched my website and I am planning to use some other means to draw traffic to my site instead of spamming some other sites. I have to notice that some are using it to draw traffic to their site and it is a personal choice as I may not use it anyway.

I do agree that spamming can work sometimes. In fact email marketing itself is a spamming people's inbox with marketing emails. If you continue to promote your product and service, one day people will surely check your product and service. marketing itself is spamming, talking about same thing again and again is spamming

I agree, there are ways to make spamming more friendly and beneficial. Promoting and advertising a product thru spamming is not a bad idea given that you control your mail activities so that your target market will not be annoyed.

I prefer not to call it spamming, but, unethical marketing and it works up to some extent.
It helps you to get traffic to your blog and also improve the SERP of the website.
And with comes more traffic to your website.
It takes time to bring the website to the fore, but it is worth the effort.

There was a guy I read his article online who supported a little bit of what you just said by stating that spamming is actually a traffic on its own. Everything depends on how you make use of it in order to get something beneficial from it.

I don't like spamming and as a result of that, I don't engage in using it as a way to drive traffic to my site. I wouldn't accept it been done on my own site too. It makes a mess of everything and puts the site in chaos.

Spamming can only work if your account doesn't get suspended and your content deleted from the platform where you actually spammed. There is no doubt that it's going to bring traffic to your website as long as people have access to whatever thing you spend on the platform.

Forum signatures isn't spamming. As long as it's allowed in a forum, it's not supposed to be seen as spam by any forum member.

This is exactly what I feel about using forum signatures. It's all up to the forum owner to allow it to be used by his members to promote their forum or even any other thing they want.

I personally am against any kind of spamming when it comes to advertising my sites. The reason for this is that as much as yes, you may get some people clicking your site to check it out, it will eventually give you a bad reputation if you tend to spam your link around a lot. Many people look for professionalism when it comes to site owners and business owners. Spamming your link anywhere and everywhere doesn't look got in a professional way at all.

I'm only in support of light spamming. It can generally build up traffic in a positive way. But when it's excessive, it makes a whole mess of everything in the forum. It's going to clutter everywhere and make it hard to read what's relevant.
