Using an AI chatbot to reply to threads?

I recently noticed this as a trend among some website owners in setting up their community. They add AI chat bots to reply threads and engage in discussions. This doesn't help a website in terms of ranking but they use it. For what purpose is very confusing to me?

How do you feel about forums using AI chat bots?

Recently, I was able to come across about two different websites or forums that were using AI chat bots to reply in discussions but unfortunately those websites have now tanked completely as that was a very wrong way to run and manage a website.

I don’t fancy it at all. All the contents on your forums will be that of AI, and this will turn away many visitors. Human interaction can never be replaced by AI and it will have a positive outcome.

I find it very difficult to make use of such communities knowing fully well that I am not discussing with a fellow human being but a robot.
