How long did it take you to learn CSS?

Took me a few days to learn the basics of CSS, but I am still an amateur at CSS. I'm still learning how to perfect my CSS even thought it will take me a while, but it will be worth it. CSS is quite advanced when you think about it, it looks easy but is much more complex than it looks.

    Why learn Jquery

I'm looking to learn JavaScript and jQuery, does anyone any good websites or guides to learn it all? I don't really like w3schools for guides as they are quite repetitive for me. Anyone have any ideas?

    Where did you find HTML?

I'm not sure what it's called but I'm most likely thinking software engineering. I was meant to say he's a programmer FOR insurance brokers, he programmes in C# to develop comparison engines for insurance brokers.

    Nice forum theme!

Yeah, I was about to post this. I like the theme as well, it's quite simple but yet appealing to the eye. I have thought about using vBulletin for my forums since I have saw numerous people using it. Just a thought.

What version of Photoshop are you currently using?

I currently use CS6, which to be honest isn't very different to CS5. I have gimp but rarely ever use it, I'll only use it if I misclick on the picture I want to edit. Gimp is pretty good but Photoshop is dominant.

    Where did you find HTML?

Well? I found html when my brother showed me a marquee moving across the screen and I thought it was pretty cool for my 8 year old mind, he later introduced me to a few guides when I was slightly older. He is now a programmer in insaurance brokers, I love him for showing me Html!:o

    CSS/Design books?

http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920024996.do Oreilly books are simply fantastic, they sell programming books from a range of authors and even their own. I would recommend you use this or a book from this site to learn CSS or even any programming language in my opinion.

    Center Div

Why don't you get rid of the <center> tag and like Melvin said use "#image { padding-top:50%;}" use "#image { padding-left:50% }" as this will most likely work. Plus ID's use "#" not "." so that could be a problem with your previous code you posted.
