Clear text before/after using only HTML/CSS

Hi guys. Total HTML newbie here. I am trying to create 2 cell phones onscreen having a 'conversation'. I've got the text formatted the way I need it. But it puts ALL of the text on the screen at once and then retypes it. I can't figure out how to start with blank screens. I would also like to clear the conversation after about a 30s delay so I can place a graphic on top of the screen area of the phones. Any help would be appreciated.

I realize what I forgot to include - opacity: 0; D-oh! Still need to figure out how to clear both screens after the conversation.
